Energy Audits
The Important First Step
This is the first and most important step to saving energy in your residence or commercial building. Our certified staff can determine where energy can be saved and the steps to take to take to save it.
What Does an Audit Consist Of?
We start by doing an onsite inspection of your building. This includes reviewing your heating system, insulation,windows, lighting, and other factors that relate to your energy usage. We utilize the latest in testing equipment including blower doors that depressurize your building so that we can test for air seepage, an infrared camera to test for heat loss, and devices to test the heating delivery system.
 
The image above is a thermo graphic image of the area displayed in the corresponding picture. When this particular image was taken, the house was depressurized with a blower door drawing cool outside air through defects in the air barrier. The thermo graphic image shows leakage of cold air infiltrating from the attic. The cold line behind the clock shows us an unsealed pipe penetration. Poor attic and rim joist sealing is a common vulnerability in the thermal envelope in homes.
An Easy to Follow Plan
Once our testing is complete we analyze the data and create a customized energy plan for your needs. This report will make specific recommendations that that you can follow to increase the efficiency of your building.

SBS can design and certify your new construction project. Let us help you make the best possible decisions when it comes to energy efficiency and sustainable energy systems.We are certified in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) programs.
This is a client's home in the design stage. SBS was contracted by the owner to help the building to achieve Net Zero Energy use. So far SBS has created envelope details, made recommendations on water usage reduction and mechanical equipment selection, performed energy modeling, and alternative energy assessments on the building.
